Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva Rosado 2000

Viña Tondonia Rosado Gran Reserva 2000 is a long-aged rosé produced by R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia in Haro, within the Rioja D.O.Ca. It is one of Spain’s most distinctive historic rosé wines, conceived for extended ageing and made according to the winery’s traditional methods.

It is made from 60% Garnacha (Grenache), 30% Tempranillo and 10% Viura, sourced from the estate’s own vineyards. The 2000 Rioja vintage was officially rated Good, and the harvest was particularly long due to uneven ripening, continuing into early November.

Its winemaking is highly unusual for a rosé. The wine undergoes 4 years of barrel ageing, with two traditional rackings by hand each year. It is then fined with fresh egg whites, bottled without filtration, and given an extended period of bottle maturation before release. Production of the 2000 vintage was limited to just 25,000 bottles.
